Swedish Massage

SCROLL DOWN

Swedish Massage

Your health is a network comprised of your body, mind, and emotions. If one aspect starts to fail, it can (and typically does) impact the rest. Our aim is to keep your network running at full capacity by providing a personal approach to your care.

Swedish Massage

Immerse yourself in our serene environment with a classic Swedish Massage. If you are unaccustomed to being pampered or having someone take care of you, then this is a great starting point. In the caring hands of our massage therapists, this traditional head-to-toe massage will leave you with a balanced body and mind through an intentional combination of strokes and pressure to stimulate blood circulation, increase muscle flexibility, and reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression.

During your Swedish massage, your massage therapist will first lubricate your skin with massage oil so that her hands glide smoothly over your skin. Your massage will incorporate smooth, gliding strokes that will help your soft tissues relax. Then the therapist will employ squeezing, rolling and kneading movements that will gradually become deep, circular movements to address the deep pain and tension in your body. Short, alternating taps done with cupped hands, fingers or the edge of her hand will help to work on specific tight areas.

Swedish massage is relaxing and invigorating. It helps calms your nerves, relieve pain and improve circulation, giving you a sense of holistic health and well-being.

We can help you recharge and restore your sense of balance and serenity. Signature Massage & Clinical Approach

Signature Massage & Clinical Approach

Signature Massage

Holistic Therapy Professional’s Signature Massage is the ultimate self-care package.  Our signature massage is a customized combination of healing therapies that will leave you relaxed, revitalized and rejuvenated!

Hot packs are placed on tense muscles to prepare them for a deep massage. Deep pressure and slow, firm strokes reduce pain and relieve muscle tension. Aromatherapy creates a centering effect that engages your senses in this transformative experience.

Your massage therapist delves in with deep tissue work and trigger point and tender point therapy to soften stubborn adhesions that “hold” your stress. Loosening these adhesions can “release” the stress. This muscle melting exercise is followed by an application of cold stones to soothe inflammation, remove toxins and relieve any residual discomfort you may have.

Your treatment is complete with the application of a topical cold analgesic that will leave you with long lasting cooling relief.

As you let go of stress and drift into a peaceful state a guided meditation is given to enhance the holistic experience (optional).

Warning: Trigger Point therapy can be temporarily uncomfortable as adhesions are released. The discomfort quickly disperses.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage

Hot stone massage is a great, warming treatment any time of the year. It is a natural therapy where heated, flat stones are placed on key points on the body. The massage therapist may also hold the stones and use them to massage certain points of the body. The use of hot stones as a healing therapy dates back to ancient times. The hot stones that are used for massage are usually made of basalt because it is rich in iron. We use basalt lava stone that is produced from volcanic eruptions because it retains heat for up to 45 minutes.

The heated rocks are placed on strategic points of the body, usually the palms of the hands, between the toes or on the spine, depending on the condition that is being treated. The heat of the stones warm and relax the muscles, allowing the therapist to apply more pressure to that area if needed.

The warmth of the stones improves circulation and calms the nervous system. Your massage therapist may place stones on points that are considered energy centers of the body. This is thought to help rebalance the body and mind.

Benefits of hot stone massage include an increase in blood flow through the body, in cell metabolism, lymphatic function, deep relaxation and a feeling of balance and harmony.

Hot stone massage may be right for you if you experience circulation problems, tend to feel chilly or get cold feet. It’s also suited for people who have muscle tension but prefer a lighter massage. The heat helps the muscles relax, making it easier for the therapist to massage the body without deep pressure. It is encouraged if you have back pain, arthritis, osteoarthritis, stress, anxiety, tension, insomnia or depression.

Hot stone massage has benefits for the mind, body and spirit. However, you should always check with your doctor before scheduling a hot stone massage as individuals with certain conditions (such as pregnant women and people with high blood pressure) are advised to avoid this type of therapy.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage

Sports massage

Do you have a specific problem area? Are you experiencing restricted range of motion in your neck, arm or other area? Sports massage was developed for athletes but it benefits anyone with restricted range of motion, chronic pain or injuries.

Sports massage emphasizes the prevention and healing of injuries to muscles and tendons.

Our highly trained therapists use a targeted combination of Swedish massage techniques and trigger point therapy. The massage stimulates blood circulation which aids in healing the problem areas and trigger point therapy to smooth out the knots in the problem area. This will increase range of motion while strengthening muscles around the joints.

Sports massages can be scheduled before an event so that they help to prevent injury, after a strenuous event to normalize the body’s tissues, during training to help you increase your physical therapy or training, or as a rehabilitative session aimed at alleviating pain due to injury or stress on the body.

A sports massage generally focuses on a specific part of the body or problem area.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage

Lymphatic drainage is a type of massage that promotes functioning of the immune system by activating fluid circulation throughout the lymphatic system.

The human body has systems in place to move nutrients and waste to and from cells, tissues or organs. The lymphatic system is one such mechanism. The body is 70% water – that “water” is actually lymphatic fluid; it is found throughout your body, even in the tiniest of spaces. Lymphatic fluid carries and destroys bacteria, toxins, waste and other invading organisms. The lymph nodes are like waste recycling centers located along the lymphatic highways in your body that also help circulate proteins, hormones and immune cells throughout the body.

Swelling of the lymph nodes occurs when the lymphatic system is blocked, disrupted or infected.  Lymph nodes become swollen if they have too much to handle (like if you are sick or have an infection) or if the vessels leading out of them become compromised.

If the lymphatic system is overwhelmed or compromised, disease will set in. It can hinder recovery from surgeries, injuries or illness. It can also accelerate the aging process; fine lines and wrinkles may be due to a lymphatic system that is not working properly.

Draining the fluids is important to maintain balance in the lymphatic system and for proper health. Lymphatic drainage cleanses and stimulates the system, activating circulation and rejuvenation.

This is a soothing and gentle massage characterized by circular rhythmic movements to encourage lymphatic drainage. We will assess your overall lymphatic circulation and determine the course of action for draining stagnant areas. We use very light, repetitive strokes and gentle pumping action to aid in the circulation and redirection of lymphatic fluid.

Lymphatic drainage is good for people who:

·   tend to have chronic colds or coughs

·   have recurring infections (often in spite of taking multiple rounds of antibiotics)

·   are planning to or have had surgery (including a cesarean section or cosmetic surgery)

·   have swelling for any reason, including a mastectomy, lumpectomy, lymph node removal or damage

·   pregnant women with swollen hands or feet

·   anyone who is bedridden

·   anyone who is not physically active

·   anyone suffering from low energy, depression or constant fatigue

Lymphatic drainage can be a strong, effective treatment for ailments related to the immune system and preventative health maintenance.

Prices are determined on a case-by-case basis during a free individual assessment, by appointment only.

Couples Massage Course

Couples Massage Course

Couples massage course I & II

At Holistic Therapy Pro's we believe self-care is a personal system of habits developed to maintain and support a healthy body and mind. In the same respect, partner-care is a system of habits developed to create and maintain a supportive and theraputic environment. If you can ground yourself, set your intention, and be present; you can practice and benefit from the art of massage therapy.

As humans we naturally want the best for our families and ourselves. However, many times we sacrifice our own wellness to make it happen. While you may think your getting more done or saving money by putting self-care on the back-burner, you are only putting it on hold to pay a higher price later. Two of the most common things that get sacrificed are our relationships with our body and/or our spouse. For example, we may feel chronic tightness and aches in various parts of our body. Instead of addressing them we may say to ourselves, "I'll tend to it next week." We may feel tension from our spouse but are too overwhelmed with other things to address it. We may say, " I'll make a grand gesture once I reach this goal." Before you know it, its been three months. By that time you're so wound up you may find it hard to truely relax. This is why integrating self-care and partner-care into your schedule are vital to a healthy lifestyle. Our couples courses are designed to get people intune with their individual needs and then with the needs of their partner. With these easy to learn techniques you'll be able to facilitate wellness anytime, ignite passion, or respark intimacy.

what to expect

Each 90 minute course goes at a beginners pace and is comprised of two components: theory & hands-on techniques. Our courses are instructed by Illinois licensed massage therapists; a male and female team. Your instructors will walk you step by step through each routine to ensure your comfort and comprehension. Questions are welcome so feel free to ask us anything!  Before and after the class light refreshments will be served. During the class, each couple will be provided with a massage table, linen, and lotion. You can bring your own refreshments and lotions if you choose. Personal belongings can be stored under your massage table.

Class sizes are kept small at 15 couples per session. We understand that massage is an intimate experience so we strive to create a theraputic, non-judgemental, and supportive environment.  We are here to learn and enjoy! We are not here to criticize or condescend. With that, we ask all of our participants to be mindful of their language and behavior. Anyone being rude or disrespectful in any way will be asked to leave without refund. In addition, It is a contraindication to recieve massage when someone is inebriated. We ask our participants to refrain from drug or alcohal use before the class. Please let your instructor know of any pre-existing conditions.

What To Wear

When it is your turn to recieve massage, you will be removing clothes to your comfort level.  You will be use the linen provided to cover yourself; you will never be exposed beyond the part of the body being worked on.  We ask men to wear boxers or shorts and women to wear a bikini top or a garment that is easily removed to expose to entire back. Underwear are kept on. Comfortable and easy to remove clothing and flip flops are the best options here. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.
